Stitchcraft, the popular knitting and needlecraft magazine published by Condé Nast, produced its Coronation Knitting Number in April 1953 to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation on June 2nd. Instructions were given for a tablecloth embroidered with cut-work roses, shamrocks, thistles and leeks, a jumper decorated with a lion and unicorn, a cross-stitch scene of Windsor castle, and other projects designed ‘to capture the coronation atmosphere.’ (See Additional Images)
