‘Cornish Farm’, in common with many of his designs, is clearly based upon one of Alec Walker’s landscape studies, with its discernible farmhouse set amongst trees and gardens. Seeing the design at an exhibition of Crysède fabrics held at the Independent Gallery in London in 1925, a reviewer at the Birmingham Post evoked a cosy scene, ‘ A Cornish Farm has chimney pots and latticed windows behind which they are eating sloe jam and cream’.
